The ECISD Advanced Academic Services Department provides services through the Gifted and Talented and the Advanced Academic Programs at the elementary and secondary level. These programs are designed to provide ECISD students with an opportunity to be challenged beyond the existing instructional program.
ELEMENTARY: G/T identified students are served in the cluster teacher's classroom on their home campus and spend one day each week in the SIP program teacher's classroom. The goal of the program is to develop scholarly characteristics in life-long learners.
SECONDARY: Secondary G/T students in junior high are clustered together in the four-core subjects and served through PreAP/GT classes. High School students are served through Advanced Placement (AP) classes, concurrent courses at both high school campuses, and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program offered at Odessa High School.
OCTATHLON: The ECISD Octathlon is an academic competition designed for junior high students to compete across the District.
