Student Assistance Services Mission Statement

Student Assistance Services (SAS) provides counseling and support services for students at risk of dropping out of school. Student Assistance Services mission is to reduce student risk factors, promote student protective factors, increase student asset development, and remove barriers to learning to ensure that at risk students have an opportunity to be successful in school.

SAS At Risk Counselors serve all ECISD schools by providing the following services to students with academic and social concerns.

*Individual Counseling
*Group Counseling
*Social Skills Development
*Crisis Intervention
*Peer Mediation
*Agency Referrals
*Parent Education
*Staff Training
Social Work
SAS Social Wokers serve all ECISD schools by providing the following services to at risk students with academic and social concerns.

*Work with school personnel to identify at risk students with attendance problems and or social-economic needs
*Assist families in obtaining clothing, food, shelter, utilities and other basic needs
*Work with parents to enhance parenting skills
*Link families with area social services agencies*Work through the court system to enforce school attendance laws
*Maintain an up to date knowledge of state \ federal laws regarding child welfare

Homeless Assistance Program (HAP)
ECISD Student Assistance Services HAP Program provides services to help homeless students enroll in school through the McKinney Vento Act.
