I was born and raised in Odessa, Texas where I attended Sam Houston, Burnet, Bonham Jr. High, and Permian High School. Growing up, I was active in sports, music, and National Honor Society. After graduating with honors from Permian, I served 6 years in the United States Marine Corps as a Military Police Officer, Training NCO (teacher), and recruiter.

I am married and we have two boys. My wife is an expert in reading instruction and serves as a Reading Coach for struggling readers in Elementary. Our boys are in 12th grade and 7th grade.

I have current Texas teaching certifications in Special Education (EC-12), English as a Second Language (EC-12), Generalist (4-8), Social Studies (8-12), and Gifted and Talented. I have experience teaching 7th, 8th, & 9th grade Special Education Reading; 7th, 8th, & 9th grade Special Education Science; 8th Grade Math; 8th Grade U.S. History; 5th Grade Pre AP/GT Social Studies; 6th & 7th grade Pre AP/GT Science, 11th Grade AP US History, and 7th, 8th, and 9th Grade boy’s athletics and tennis.

I believe that education exists to instill character, impart knowledge, and develop students who are active learners and critical thinkers. Teachers are commissioned with a sacred trust by our community and parents to help students become informed citizens who are life-long learners. True success in education can only be achieved when the community, parents, students, and teachers work in concert to set, explore, and reach educational goals.

I believe that effective athletics programs make a tremendous contribution to schools and are essential components of highly successful public education programs. I teach my student-athletes that they are students first and foremost. I lead by example by engaging my teaching responsibilities with the same preparation and vigor that I give to my athletic assignments. I teach fundamental knowledge and skills to my athletes so that they develop the confidence to enter into competition with opponents of any ability level. My discipline methods are designed to develop self-discipline, maturity, and respect so that the student-athletes’ performance is improved in school, athletics, and life.
