The mission of the ECISD Energy Management Program is to save money and energy through the conservationand efficient use of natural gas, water, and electricity, while maintaining a safe and comfortable learning environment.
Goals...• Change the way staff thinks about energy and its usage to reflect an attitude of conservation.• Maintain the comfort and safety of the learning environment.• Use our utility resources wisely.• Achieve at least a 25% reduction in our energy bills.
In May, 2012, the ECISD Board of Trustees approved a partnership with Cenergistic (formally Energy Education), a firm whose mission is to help organizations reduce their overall utility usage and operations cost by providing a combination of tools, training, technology, engineering and analysis that are guaranteed to reduce energy costs. Projected cost savings during this partnership will be over $10 million over a ten-year period.
Overall cost avoidance (savings) from May 2012 - September 2018: $9,904,004 (25% reduction) & counting.
Our conservation efforts have reduced CO2 output by 39,745 metric tons which is the equivalent of 8,280 cars taken off the road each year, the CO2 absorbed by 1,019,097 tree seedlings grown over a 10-year period..Please visit our usage page for more detailed information.31 campuses plus the Administration Building have received the coveted Energy Star Award for 2014.
