     Go to our website at www.esc18.net

    Click at the top of the page where it says Workshops.

    Scroll to the bottom of that page and you should see a sentence underlined talking about accessing old transcripts, click on that link.

    This will take you to the old sign-in page.  Enter your username of _____ and your password of _____ and click continue.  It should bring up all your records we have for you.  From here you should see a button at the end of each session that either says Evaluation or Certificate.  If it looks like your GT sessions need to be evaluated by you,  click on the evaluation button and complete each evaluation and then you should see the certificate button.  Click on the certificate button and you should be able to print them off.

    Who needs this training?:  All Kinder, Bilingual and teachers that serve GT identified students.  This includes Elementary Cluster Teachers, Elementary Departmentalized grade levels, 6th grade Core Teachers (Engl/SS/Math/Sci), PreAP teachers, AP teachers, PreIB teachers and IB teachers. This includes Counselors, Principals and Assistant Principals, ISDs.
     
     TEACHERS 
    1.  Foundation Training Requirements: 

    In order to be qualified to teach GT students, teachers are required to complete a total of 30 hours of initial professional development in Gifted Education.  Teachers must complete six (6) hours in each of the following strands:   

    • Nature and Needs of the Gifted (Juntune)
    • Social Emotional Development of the Gifted (Juntune)
    • Creativity and Instructional Strategies for Teaching the Gifted (Gifted Guru)
    • Differentiation in the Real World (Gifted Guru)
    • Program Design (THIS SESSION WILL NEED TO BE DONE FACE TO FACE - Please look for course offerings in Eduphoria)

    Teachers should complete these hours before being assigned GT students and/or the first day of school.  However, those hired late have until the end of the first semester to complete the training. 


    2.  Update Requirements
    Teachers must complete six (6) hours of update training each year they teach GT students.  The update hours may be completed in any strand.    
     

    COUNSELORS AND ADMINISTRATORS
    Administrators and Counselors who have the authority for program decisions (including scheduling, advising, and especially serving on the Campus Selection Committee), must have a minimum of 6 hours of professional development that includes:   
     
    • Nature and Needs of GT Students  (TAGT Learning on Demand Library)
    • Program Options for GT Students   (TAGT Learning on Demand Library)

    4.3 Administrators and counselors who have authority for program decision receive a minimum of six (6) hours annually of professional development of gifted education.  

        
    Our district will have access to TAGT Learning on Demand from June 1, 2019 through March 31, 2019.  However, training should be completed before the first day of school.
     
    Campuses should maintain GT records of their campus faculty for compliance of the GT State Plan.   
     
    Eduphoria:
    All certificates of completion should be uploaded by each individual in their Eduphoria Portfolio.  Please keep the original certificates from ALL professional development you attend.  It is your professional responsibility to be able to document the training you have completed.  
     
      
    4.1.1C A minimum of thirty (30) clock hours of professional development that includes nature and needs of gifted/talented students, identification and assessment of gifted/talented students’ needs, and curriculum and instruction for gifted/talented students is required for teachers who provide instruction and services that are a part of the district’s defined gifted/talented services. Teachers are required to have completed the thirty (30) hours of professional development prior to their assignment to the district’s gifted/talented services (19 TAC §89.2(1)).  4.2C Teachers who provide instruction and services that are a part of the district’s defined gifted/talented services receive a minimum of six (6) hours annually of professional development in gifted/talented education that is related to state teacher education standards (19 TAC §89.2(3) and TAC §233.1)  4.3C Administrators and counselors who have authority for service decisions are required to complete a minimum of six (6) hours of professional development that includes nature and needs of gifted/talented students and service options for gifted/talented students (19 TAC §89.2(4)). 
     
     
    Gifted and Talented Certification:
    The State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) has a TExES test available for GT called Gifted and Talented Supplemental (162).  This certification does not replace the 30 hour foundation mandated by state law.  More information is available SBEC www.sbec.state.tx.us and TExES www.texes.ets.org.  
     
    Does G/T  training count towards Exchange credit?  Yes.  If you are off contract, the training will count.
    Does Camp SIP Shadowing count for exchange?  Yes
    Will APSI count for exchange?  Yes.  Teachers completing the 30 hour APSI training will also receive a one 6 hour GT update.
    Does TAGT Learning on Demand training counts towards Exchange credit?  Yes.  If the hours are completed between June 1, 2019 - August 1, 2019.
