Health & Safety

Cleaning, Disinfecting, and Prevention
- Hand sanitizer available throughout campus
- Students, staff expected to wash hands/use hand sanitizer regularly
- Proper handwashing techniques will be taught
- Contracting with GermBlast to disinfect, sanitize all facilities
- All staff will have access to disinfectant solutions to immediately sanitize high-touch, working surfaces
- Each classroom and restroom will be cleaned and disinfected daily
- High-touch surfaces, working areas, shared objects will be cleared throughout the school day
- Face coverings will be required at all times for all employees
- Face coverings will be required at all times for all students in grades 4 -12
- Face covering will be recommended for students in Pre-K through 3rd grade; these students will be required to wear face coverings during arrival to school, dismissal from school, or moving from place to place on campus
- Desks and students will be appropriately distanced in classroom and other instructional areas

Screening/Exposure Protocols
- Parents will be expected to self-screen their children prior to sending to school. If parents find their child has symptoms or has been exposed to someone who has tested positive or has tested positive themselves, the parent will be expected to keep the child home, notify the school and request remote instruction until the 14-day incubation period has passed. Parents will be expected to sign a form along with the handbook acknowledgement outlining the expectations of the self-screen.

COVID-19 Parent Information (Spanish)- All visitors will be screened and have temperature checked upon entering the building.
- Signs will be posted ALL ENTRY POINTS as well as door going directly into main building

Teaching & Learning

Instructional Delivery
All students in grades 3rd – 12th will have a rotating A-Day and B-Day schedules. Here you will see sample schedules for an elementary student, a middle school student, and a high school student.
Teachers will teach and students will learn through three different methods.
Learning Method A
- Face-to-Face learning online in real time
- In edu-speak this is referred to as Synchronous Learning (you’ll hear this term a lot but not here!)
- These are scheduled meetings with teachers
- Students in 3rd through 12th grade will have scheduled meetings for all courses
- Students will login and engage with teacher and other students
- Students most login to be counted as “present”
- Very similar to campus learning and may be done from home or in a learning lab at school
Learning Method B
- In edu-speak this is referred to as Asynchronous Learning (same as above!)
- Remote Learning from anywhere, anytime and is self-paced
- Students are required to “engage” every day in all courses
- May login to a scheduled meeting or view a classroom recording
- Students in Pre-K through 2nd grade will use Seesaw to interact with teacher and receive/submit assignments
- Students in 3rd – 12th grades will use Google Classroom to interact with teachers and receive/submit assignments
- Assignments required daily and students must demonstrate progress
- Students can take breaks during the session and return as needed
- Can be done at home or in a learning lab at school
Learning Method C
- Face-to-Face instruction In-Person at school
ECISD will provide Instructional Support needed for parents and students in remote learning through a Help Desk or Families to show them how use the features of their device, information on how to access instructional resources, Google Classroom and Seesaw, plus campus specific learning opportunities

Instructional Space
- Mark off appropriate distancing in classrooms, instructional spaces and hallways
- 1-to-1 technology. Each student will be given a device that will be used in class and at home. (tablets for Pre-K through 2nd grade, Chromebooks for 3rd grade through 12th grade)
- Ensure adequate supplies to minimize sharing of high touch materials to the extent possible (e.g., assigning each student their own art supplies, equipment) or limit use of supplies and equipment by one group of children at a time and clean and disinfect between use
- Discourage sharing of items that are difficult to clean or disinfect. (Students are encouraged to carry a backpack with all of their own supplies –device, markers, crayons, pencils, pens, etc.)
- Avoid sharing electronic devices, toys, books, and other games or learning aids
- Utilize large group instructional areas like gyms, libraries, and cafeterias for whole grade level or subject specific instruction
- Microphone for remote teaching and meetings
- Audio Amplification Systems for larger instructional spaces and classrooms when teachers are in masks
- Instructional Support needed for parents and students in remote learning.

Student Support
- The ECISD Guidance & Counseling website will be a one-stop shop for assistance for family, student and staff social, emotional needs
- Counseling will utilize both face to face and virtual
- Social work, Teen Parent and Community In Schools services will be delivered face to face and via phone following CDC guidelines
- The ECISD Family Support Line will be activated and then continued based on call volume
- Texas truancy laws continue to be in effect requiring compulsory school attendance. Truancy Prevention Measures will be implemented by all campuses. Truancy laws will apply to students who fail to attend school, but remote attendance satisfies attendance requirements.

Fine Arts & Athletics & PE
- Fine Arts and Athletics will follow safety guidelines provided from the University Interscholastic League (UIL) and Texas Education Agency (TEA)
- Students choosing Remote Learning on a full-time basis, may attend before or after school practice
- Concerts/events and travel for competition will follow UIL and TEA Safety Guidelines
- Live PE or Virtual PE will be provided and meet TEA guidelines

Arrival, Dismissal, Transitions

Transportation
- ECISD Transportation will follow current TEA guidance recommendations
- Students and staff use hand sanitizer when entering bus
- All students must wear face covering while on bus
- Drivers and monitors will wear face masks and face shields while students are on the bus
- Only one student per seat will be allowed; unless students live in the same household then may share a seat
- When possible, windows will be left open for air circulation
- Buses will be thoroughly cleaned after each trip with a focus on high-touch areas
- Routes will be run in segments to maximize the capacity
- Special Education students will continue to be served according to needs in their Individual Education Plan
- Career & Technical, OCTECHS, and G/T shuttles will be covered in a modified schedule
- Magnet school transfers will take place a normal
- All requests for transportation requests must be made on the ECISD website

Community & Volunteers
- Visitors on campus will be greatly restricted. General Volunteers (VIPS) may still apply online through VOLY. If a campus/department deems the work of a volunteer to be essential, and verified by Development Office staff, the volunteer must follow same safety protocols set in place by district for staff and visitors
- Identified community partners who will be operating virtually are Bookworm Readers, Middle School Leadership Coaching, Big Brothers/Big Sisters
