Curriculum
Montessori is a very special teaching method based on the research and lifelong work of Dr. Maria Montessori. She dedicated her life to studying the development of children and found that students learn exceptionally well when they are able to explore their learning environment, when they have materials in their hands, when they are given choice, and when learning is geared toward their individual needs and interests.
We carry her work forward by providing these experiences in our public Montessori program. Montessori teachers are trained to observe and pay very close attention to students so that individually paced instruction can be provided, whether that is to provide intervention or accelerated instruction.
Our Montessori classrooms are set up in three year age configurations and there are many benefits. Students are able to stay with their teacher for three years, and in this time the teachers develop a deep understanding of student needs to accelerate instruction. Additionally, there is a clear bond that is formed with each student and their family.
In Montessori, we seek to educate the whole child, not just intellect, but a child’s social, emotional, and physical well being. Our ultimate goal is for each child to reach independence and become problem solvers for the world.
