External Data Request
Accountability and School Improvement provides a process for external entities to make requests to conduct research and access data.
Ector County ISD recognizes the need for continued research in education and other related areas. The department of Research and Evaluation screens applications for graduate students, university researchers, and other research organizations requesting access to ECISD as a research site. Each proposed project is reviewed according to district policy, sponsoring university protocol, and federal guidelines for the protection of human subjects. Applications are carefully considered based on the researcher's expectations of resources from the district, the intended target population(s), the potential risks and benefits to the target population and the district, and the degree of intrusiveness into the instructional program.
The Ector County ISD Research Review Board (RRB) is committed to supporting quality research that addresses questions of educational importance and contributes to the improvement of the educational program in the District. The RRB will be very selective when considering and reviewing application submissions. The research submissions must demonstrate clear and direct educational value and be of minimal demands on instructional time and district resources.
In order to address the issue of survey fatigue across the district and to ensure a balance between instructional time and survey administration, the RRB will be very selective in reviewing and approving any research with surveys.
