PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports)

Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) within the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework aims to provide early and consistent help for students who face behavioral challenges. The main goal is to identify and support students early on through regular screening and progress checks. This approach uses data to guide decisions, making sure that interventions are adjusted based on each student's needs.

MTSS uses a tiered approach to support, which includes:

  1. Tier 1: High-quality classroom instruction for all students.
  2. Tier 2: Targeted support for students who need extra help.
  3. Tier 3: Intensive, individualized support for students who continue to struggle.

These interventions are based on research, ensuring they are effective. The process involves continuous evaluation and collaboration among teachers, specialists, and families to develop and implement successful strategies. Research shows that this approach can improve student outcomes, reduce the need for special education referrals, and enhance overall teaching practices.
