Meningitis Information for Students & Parents

Meningitis:

Meningitis is an inflammation of the covering of the brain and spinal cord, and can be caused by viruses, parasite, fungi, and bacteria.  Meningitist caused by bacteria is the most likely to cause serious, long-term complications.  It is an uncommon disease that requires urgent treatment with antibiotics to prevent permanent damage or death.  For more information please visit the Texas Department of State Health Services Meningitis Information for Students & Parents Website
