ECISD offers some of the most outstanding Fine Arts programs in the state of Texas, as well as the entire country.  The district enrollment is more than 32,000 students (Pre-K through 12), who attend two early education schools (Pre-K), twenty-eight elementary schools (K-5), six middle schools (6-8), two class 6A high schools, and three non-traditional high school campuses. With 140 fine arts staff members, there are 2 administrators, 1 administrative assistant, 21 band directors, 17 choral directors, 11 orchestra directors,  3 mariachi teachers, 3 guitar teachers, 1 harp teacher, 2 piano teachers, 32 elementary music specialists, 29 art teachers, 5 theater arts teachers, 8 dance teachers and 4 Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) teachers.
The Fine Arts Department believes that any student wishing to fulfill a creative interest has a wide variety of choices in Ector County ISD. Our staff members are among the finest anywhere, and ECISD students who have graduated from these programs will readily attest to their strengths. The Fine Arts Department is proud of the many achievements achieved by our students and staff, and we strive to continue providing superior opportunities for all ECISD students while constantly adapting and improving our programs. We want to give the very best education to the students of ECISD, and a part of any true quality education is participation in and a knowledge of the fine arts. We offer that to students and our hope is that we can contribute positively to the education of every student in ECISD.
The Fine Arts Department of ECISD is committed to a high quality program of arts education for all students of the district and the fine arts teachers of ECISD have taken on many extra responsibilities not only for our own students, but also for the students of the surrounding area and the state. Many of our teachers have been elected to hold area-wide offices in professional organizations and have served on committees at the state level in order to improve fine arts instruction for the students of Texas. Six Past-Presidents of TMEA have been ECISD music teachers and the level of commitment to arts education on the part of all teachers is very high.

"The arts are not a frill. The arts are a response to our individuality and our nature, and help to shape our identity. What is there that can transcend deep difference and stubborn divisions? The arts. They have a wonderful universality. Art has the potential to unify. It can speak in many languages without a translator. The arts do not discriminate. The arts can lift us up."

    –Former Texas Congresswoman, Barbara Jordan
