Art 1 class description:
This class is a basic introduction to the world of visual art. Students will discover the art of various cultures from many different time periods. Students will learn how to work with various art mediums including markers, colored pencils, graphite pencils, watercolor, oil pastels, soft pastels, acrylic, ink as well as paper mache and clay. Students will learn the language of art and about the basic art elements and principles. Students will learn how to discuss, critique, and create various works of art in a fun learning environment.
This class focuses on student's technical ability in two-dimensional media. This class focuses on developing student's drawing and painting abilities through the exploration of various mediums including charcoal, graphite pencils, conte crayon, watercolors, acrylics, ink, and various forms of printmaking techniques such as linoleum relief printing. Students will use the elements and principles of art to design, explain and critique their compositions. Students will also learn about various famous artists, their histories and their techniques. The focus of this course is to achieve academic and artisitc excellence and to help students evolve into college and career ready artists.
Art can create a world of endless posibilities. I am a firm believer that art can change the world. My goal as an educator is to allow students the posibility to grow and discover many new things. I want my students to feel welcome in my classroom and to be excited and passionate about the work they create and about the cool new things they will learn.
