CCMR serves as the state's ultimate checklist to ensure high schoolers are truly prepared for life after graduation

In Ector County Independent School District, (ECISD), preparing students for success after graduation is not left to chance. Through intentional planning, strategic partnerships, and expanded opportunities, the district helps students graduate ready to thrive in college, careers, military service, and life. College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) is the key measurement of that success and for the fifth year in a row ECISD has seen that number improve. It now stands at 95%, an increase of 22 points since 2023.

“We believe CCMR is more than an accountability measure,” said ECISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Keeley Boyer. “It is an indicator of how well we are equipping students with the knowledge, skills, credentials, and experiences needed for success beyond high school. I am extremely proud of the work – and the success – of our team and our students.”

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) uses CCMR as a core pillar in the state's A–F school accountability system, in fact, it makes up 40% of a high school’s accountability rating. CCMR serves as the state's ultimate checklist to ensure high schoolers are truly prepared for life after graduation.

“As your child grows, we want to work together with each family,” said ECISD Chief Academic Officer Dr. Roberto Trejo. “We want to help them discover their talents, explore opportunities, and build a plan for the future.”

Students demonstrate readiness by meeting specific benchmarks. For College Ready the standards include things like SAT, ACT, or TSIA2 scores; Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) exams; or dual credit courses. For Career Ready students can earn approved Industry-Based Certifications coupled with career and technical education program completion, or earn a Level I/II certificate. Enlisting in the armed forces or the Texas National Guard is for Military Ready.

“Our strategic plan is titled Growing Forward. Together,” said Dr. Boyer. “This is the kind of success we can achieve when, together, we provide opportunities and support for students. I encourage parents to talk with their child’s school counselor about setting and pursuing goals beyond graduation.”
