ECISD announces Accountability Ratings for 2024 and 2025

With the resolution of a lawsuit against the Texas Education Agency last month, A-F Accountability Ratings are being released for the past two years, 2024 and 2025, at this same time. The 2024 release had been held up due to the court proceedings.

The 2025 ratings show 26, nearly two-thirds, of ECISD’s schools achieved an A, B, or C rating. A list of each campus rating is included with this release. 

ECISD’s district accountability score is a 72, which is a C; however, a rule from the state, referred to as the 3-D rule, forces that score to be reduced to a 69, a D rating.

“The district rating is not what we want or expect,” said ECISD Superintendent Dr. Keeley Boyer. “Whether it is the 72 we earned or the 69 we were given, we are not satisfied with either one.”

“However, there is a lot of good news in these latest ratings,” she added. “Ten of our schools earned an A, that is up from 7 in 2024 and 6 in 2023. Six schools earned a B. That is a testament to the good work being done in our classrooms every day.”

TEA’s accountability system consists of four scoring domains:

Domain 1 – Student achievement STAAR; College Career & Military Readiness; Graduation Rate

Domain 2A – Academic Growth

Domain 2B – Relative Performance (comparison to comparable districts or schools around the state)

Domain 3 – Closing the Gaps among student groups

Under this accountability system, updated in 2022, individual campuses or school districts earns a score (0-100) in each of the four domains, and if they fail to achieve at least a score of 70 in three of the four domain scores they cannot receive a higher total than 69. That is how ECISD’s score of 72 was reduced by the state to a 69. The same rule impacted several schools, too.

 

Highlights from the 2025 accountability results include:

·         Graduation Rate improved to 87.8%, the highest mark in at least 23 years

·         College Career & Military Readiness improved from 88% to 93%.

·         3^rd grade – Reading/Language Arts and Math increased

·         4^th grade – Reading/Language Arts and Math increased

·         5^th grade – Science increased

·         7^th grade – Reading/Language Arts increased

·         8^th grade – Reading/Language Arts, Math, and Science increased

·         Biology End of Course exam increased

·         English I End of Course exam increased

 

“We are seeing improvement in many areas from STAAR to CCMR to graduation rate,” said Dr. Boyer. “Even in Kindergarten Readiness and our number of AP Scholars, which are not part of the accountability system, we see improvement.”

“We understand we have work to do,” she added. “We have a talented team of teachers and leaders across the district, high-quality resources for them to use, and smart, motivated children who are eager to learn. The people are in place, and we have made organizational changes that will help us succeed.”
