Prestigious recognition comes from the Texas Association of School Business Officials

Ector County ISD is proud to be recognized by The Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) with a 2026 Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations. The Award of Merit was established in 2009 to recognize Texas school districts, that are committed to following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services.

Members of the Purchasing Department team were introduced during last night’s school board meeting.

Each year, volunteers with the TASBO Purchasing & Supply Management Research Committee evaluate the award criteria to ensure it represents the latest best practices. They then review new and recertification applications. For 2026, only 84 recipients met the stringent criteria to qualify for the award.

“Congratulations to the entire purchasing department,” said ECISD Chief Financial Officer Albessa Chavez. “This Award of Merit honors the daily dedication of our team to serve our schools, staff, and our students.”

“We’re proud of the work our honorees do to streamline school purchasing operations, comply with regulations, and set the standard for how to utilize taxpayer dollars,” said Tracy Ginsburg, TASBO Executive Director. “That so many teams take the time to document their practices and procedures speak to the strength of the school finance and operations in schools across Texas.”

ECISD’s Purchasing Department team received its award during the 2026 TASBO conference in February.
