Graduate rate, CCMR rise

CCMR is College, Career and Military Readiness and ECISD's score of 93% earns an 'A'

Ector County ISD leaders made two substantial announcements during Tuesday night’s school board workshop. First, the District’s Graduate Rate rose to 87.8%, which is the highest mark in at least 23 years.  This is the graduation rate for the Class of 2024, the most recent data available.

Second, ECISD’s CCMR score improved to 93%, which earns an ‘A’ in the Texas accountability system. CCMR stands for College, Career and Military Readiness and it is a score given to each school district and each high school, and it makes up a large percentage of the school’s TEA Accountability Rating. It is designed by the state to ensure Texas students are prepared for life after high school. Since 2020, ECISD’s CCMR score has steadily increased from 58% to 93% today.

“I am incredibly proud of the work our team has done to prepare our students for whatever they choose to pursue after graduation,” said ECISD Superintendent Dr. Keeley Boyer. “This did not happen by chance, it is the result of very intentional planning and work in our schools.”

TEA defines College Ready as: meets Texas Success Initiative (TSI) criteria (this includes SAT and ACT); earns dual course credits; meets criteria on AP/IB exams; or earns an associate’s degree.

TEA defines Career Ready as: earns an industry-based certificate; graduates with a completed IEP and workforce readiness; graduates with an advanced diploma plan and received special education services; or earns a Level 1 or 2 certificate.

TEA defines Military Ready as: enlists in the U.S. Armed Forces/Texas National Guard.

Like the graduation rate, CCMR is also a lagging indicator, meaning the 2025 accountability scores include the CCMR number for the Class of 2024.

“I am excited for our teachers who are seeing the results of their work,” said Dr. Boyer. “And I am excited that our students are taking advantage of the opportunities available to them through advanced courses, dual credit, career and technical education and the many other options they have to prepare for the future. These improvements reflect a total team effort.”
