Grant donation comes as the kickoff grant for Chevron and Kent Kwik Fuel Your School program with Donors Choose

Chevron and Kent Kwik today relaunched Fuel Your School in West Texas with a $12,300 delivery of classroom literacy supplies and STEM projects to LBJ Elementary School in Odessa. The kickoff celebrates a new education investment designed to help local educators obtain resources that enrich learning experiences for students.

"Every student visits our science lab once a week and does hands-on experiments," said LBJ Elementary Principal Dr. Zenovia Crier. "We can't have these experiences without companies that support us so we are so appreciative of Chevron and Kent Kwik."

Through Fuel Your School, Chevron is partnering with Kent Kwik and DonorsChoose to provide up to $50,000 for classroom projects at eligible PreK-12 public and charter schools in Midland and Odessa. Beginning October 1, eligible teachers, librarians, guidance counselors and school nurses may submit one classroom project request for up to $1,000 through DonorsChoose. Projects will be funded weekly on a first-come, first-served basis through November 1 or until funds are exhausted.

“Teachers know what their students need most, and Fuel Your School helps put those resources directly into their hands,” said Valerie Acosta, lead advisor, Chevron. “Chevron is proud to work with Kent Kwik and DonorsChoose to support the educators who are shaping the next generation of problem-solvers, leaders and innovators in Midland and Odessa. We're excited to start this year's campaign with a $12,300 donation to Lyndon B. Johnson Elementary and the students it serves.”

“At Kent Kwik, we believe strongly in supporting the communities we serve and especially their schools and educational projects,” said Bill Kent, owner of Kent Kwik. “That's why we are so excited to support, along with Chevron, the Fuel Your School program that gives local teachers a direct way to get the materials they need for their students and classroom. Thank you for buying Chevron and Texaco fuel at your local Kent Kwik, you are supporting local teachers and students.”

The $12,300 classroom delivery at Lyndon B. Johnson Elementary marked the campaign launch and highlighted the types of educator-led projects the program is designed to support. The broader initiative reflects Chevron and Kent Kwik’s shared commitment to education and to creating lasting community impact in the Permian Basin.
