Permian AP named an Outstanding Assistant Principal for region

Johna Straw has been selected to represent the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals as a Region 18 Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year

Johna Straw, Associate Principal of Permian High School has been selected to represent the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals as a Region 18 Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year. TASSP recognizes outstanding principals and assistant principals from the twenty region Education Service Centers in the state. School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions. Nominations are based upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership. As a Region 18 winner, Mrs. Straw is eligible to compete for the state title of Texas Assistant Principal of the Year.

Mrs. Straw has been a public educator for 28 years and a member of the leadership team at Permian High School since 2018. She attended the University of Texas Permian Basin, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master's degrees. Her accomplishments include ECISD Outstanding Teacher for Permian High School and Master Teacher of the Year for Permian High School.

Each of the region winners will be recognized at the TASSP Summer Workshop in June 2026.
