STEM Academy earns national Student Council distinction
National Gold Council of Excellence award recognizes continues efforts of school's Student Council
A proud moment for the STEM Academy on April 11, as the school celebrated its Student Council for earning the National Gold Council of Excellence award from the National Association of Student Councils.
The award recognizes student councils that maintain strong year-round programs and work to improve their schools and communities through their leadership activities. STEM’s main student council committees are Pride and Patriotism, Energy and Environment, Drugs Alcohol Health and Safety, and Community Service, and those committees are each required to host one project per month for engaging the K-12 STEM community. There are also social and rec committees in charge of the parties, dances, and other community-building events.
The application process for this recognition is rigorous, requiring a portfolio that is reviewed by school administration before it is submitted.
The STEM student council is already recognized as an Outstanding Student Council, and Sweepstakes winner, by the Texas Association Student Councils. Congratulations, STEM StuCo!
