Our District
Ector County ISD was created by a special act of the Texas Legislature in August 1921. The District is in its second century of inspiring and challenging every student to be prepared for success and to be adaptable in an ever-changing society. Today, ECISD is made up of 42 schools plus additional campuses for Career & Technical Education, and educates more than 33,000 students placing it among the largest school districts in Texas.
What should a student know and what skills should a student have when they graduate from high school in ECISD? The Portrait of a Graduate was developed with input from parents, community members, and educators with knowledge and abilities outlined for each grade level along the way. See it here:
For four years in a row, Ector County ISD has received a perfect score on the state’s FIRST report which assesses how school districts spend their money annually. Our District earned a Superior Achievement rating, which is equivalent to a grade of A. FIRST is designed to encourage public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.
ECISD’s Strategic Plan was finalized in 2019 and is focused on three overarching themes – Foundation Excellence in our day-to-day work; high-quality, relevant Talent Development for the members of our team; and the Learning Journey of our students. The Strategic Plan uses 14 Indicators of Success to track progress toward each of the goals. You will find the plan and those Indicators of Success here:
