Our District
Ector County ISD was created by a special act of the Texas Legislature in August 1921. The District is in its second century of inspiring and challenging every student to be prepared for success and to be adaptable in an ever-changing society. Today, ECISD is made up of 42 schools plus additional campuses for Career & Technical Education, and educates more than 33,000 students placing it among the largest school districts in Texas.
What should a student know and what skills should a student have when they graduate from high school in ECISD? The Portrait of a Graduate was developed with input from parents, community members, and educators with knowledge and abilities outlined for each grade level along the way. See it here:

Our District earned a Superior Achievement rating, which is equivalent to a grade of A. FIRST is designed to encourage public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.
The creation of our new strategic plan was a process characterized by reflection, discovery, and determination to improve on the many innovative aspects of our previous plan. Indeed, Ector County ISD is now recognized for cutting-edge work in developing teacher and principal pipelines and strategic compensation. Those initiatives went hand-in-hand with the student growth and recovery in the years immediately following the pandemic. Now the call is to carry those efforts forward to push achievement to a higher level. That is the intention behind Growing Forward. Together., ECISD’s strategic plan for 2025-2030.
