Growing Forward Together

Strategic Plan 2025-2030

The creation of our new strategic plan was a process characterized by reflection, discovery, and determination to improve on the many innovative aspects of our previous plan. Indeed, Ector County ISD is now recognized for cutting-edge work in developing teacher and principal pipelines and strategic compensation. Those initiatives went hand-in-hand with the student growth and recovery in the years immediately following the pandemic. Now the call is to carry those efforts forward to push achievement to a higher level. That is the intention behind Growing Forward. Together., ECISD’s strategic plan for 2025-2030.

The process began by seeking input from a variety of stakeholders. Feedback and recommendations came from focus groups with school board members, central office leaders, principals, teachers, students, parents, and community leaders. An online survey garnered 890 responses. In all, the District engaged nearly 1,000 people and responses came from eight different zip codes stretching across Ector County, capturing the diverse perspectives of our community.

A local steering committee reviewed the opinions and suggestions and identified several key strengths expressed by the community.

The community also pointed out several key areas for improvement ECISD must address to achieve its goals moving forward. Primary among them is the need for depth, coherence, and necessary support for maximum impact of the many well-intentioned efforts launched. Resources are often scare and must be focused on those actions that are most impactful for student and staff success. Other concerns noted:

  1. Instructional quality and student experience vary too widely.
  2. The district has improved staffing levels but lacks a strong pipeline of well-prepared, certified educators.
  3. Educator development lacks coherence, quality, and follow-through.
  4. Family and community partnerships are not fully leveraged to support student success.
  5. Student access to strong programs and quality facilities depends too much on the campus they attend.

Each strategic priority is supported by a series of initiatives and those initiatives by specific, time-bound projects/actions/tasks. All of those can be found in the menu on the left side of this page. The full strategic plan document is listed first. Then each of the four Strategic Priorities are visible separately:

Lastly, the Indicators of Success are available. These are the metrics, with annual targets to demonstrate progress toward meeting the school board’s goals. They stretch from Kindergarten Readiness to College, Career & Military Readiness and include other standards like daily attendance and school connectedness.
