ECISD graduates considered College, Career, Military Ready hits 65%
The Ector County ISD Board of Trustees held its September workshop on the 14th, and they were presented with updated numbers for graduates considered College, Career & Military Ready (CCMR). School Board Goal #3 is to see the percentage of high school graduates considered College, Career & Military Ready (CCMR) increase to 65% by May 2024. Trustees received a CCMR report showing ECISD has met the 2024 goal of 65% two years ahead of schedule. In addition, ECISD met the state CCMR percentage of 65%.
“Faculty, staff, and students have worked diligently to not only achieve our College Career Military Readiness goal of 65%, but to do so 2 years early,” said ECISD Superintendent Dr. Scott Muri. “The children of Ector County deserve an education that prepares them for success in a modern society, as well as equips them with the skills to be adaptable in tomorrow’s world. A big thank you to our teachers and leaders for investing deeply in our students. These data indicate that the work accomplished by Team ECISD paid dividends for our students and will benefit them for years to come.”
The state has established the criteria for CCMR, things like earning dual course credit, AP/IB exams, earning an industry-based certificate, Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TIA) to determine college readiness, and more. ECISD has set up systems to closely monitor students’ progress toward graduation and seeks to ensure every senior meets at least one of the measures by the time they start their senior year.
ECISD Associate Superintendent Student and School Support Alicia Syverson added, "This celebration of attaining our CCMR goal two years ahead of schedule is the result of a collective focus by leaders, teachers, counselors, and staff on student outcomes. This is not work that can be done singularly or carelessly, but with intentionality and as a team serving students. What do we do when we meet our goal? We raise the bar so more students benefit. Challenge accepted!"
