Texas Association of School Boards honors 4 local businesses, organizations

Ector County ISD is excited to announce four local businesses and organizations honored as part of the 2020 Stand Up for Texas Public Schools program through the Texas Association of School Boards. Those honorees are ACCESS 4 Success, Boys and Girls Club of Odessa-Headlee, XTO Energy, and Sewell Family of Companies.

Bottom right:ACCESS is a cutting-Edge, cloud based, technology platform designed to personalize the learning experience for each student. ACCESS connects students to local career opportunities as they gain confidence to manage dynamic and rapidly evolving career pathways and work environments.


Top right: The Boys and Girls Club built the Headlee Club on the campus of E.K. Downing Elementary in West Odessa and partners with the school to provide after-school support, tutoring and activities.


Top left: XTO Energy purchased and donated five Bookworms vending machines for ECISD elementary schools.


Bottom left: Sewell Family of Companies includes Sewell Ford which has donated a truck to the ECISD Ag Farm, and a car and two engines to the auto technology program in addition to providing volunteers for a variety of efforts.


“Our students, parents, and teachers directly benefit from organizations such as these that are willing to advocate for public schools, not just in words but in their actions,” said Ector County ISD Superintendent Dr. Scott Muri. “We applaud these commu­nity partners for their engagement and hope to continue these strong relationships for years to come.”

 TASB started this recognition program in 2014 to highlight generous assistance provided to districts by their communities each year. By calling attention to the number and variety of partnerships between school district and businesses others will be encouraged to step up and help.

In addition to local recognition, TASB publishes the company and organization names on its website and in its printed materials.
