#ECISDproud to serve our community through the United Way

Tuesday afternoon, ECISD received two awards from the United Way of Odessa, one individual award and one team recognition.

Each year in October, Ector County ISD hosts a United Way campaign giving staff members the chance to support the UWO’s agencies and programs of their choice. This year our District campaign raised more than $63,000. For this effort, ECISD received the Dick & Amelia Saulsbury Sustained Excellence Award given as recognize to an ongoing commitment to improving the Odessa Community through generous giving to United Way Odessa.

Frances Franco, our Communications Department’s Administrative Assistant, also earned the well-deserved recognition as the UWO’s Outstanding Workplace Coordinator. ECISD’s campaign is actually a series of about 50 micro-campaigns – one from each school and each administrative division. Frances is the point-person for those micro-campaigns; setting up the introduction meeting for each of those 50 coordinators, making sure they have United Way materials, collecting each micro-campaign’s donations, and coordinating with various departments to ensure the donations are delivered to the United Way. It is an all-encompassing job.

“We are excited to see Frances honored in this way,” said ECISD Chief Communications Officer Mike Adkins. “She keeps the campaign going and is a stickler for the details that make it a success.

“Ector County ISD is proud to support the United Way of Odessa each year. We know the agencies and programs of the UWO play a critical role in children being ready to learn when they come to school. We value our partnership with the United Way of Odessa.”
